Department of English
About Department | The Department of English has been functioning since 1991, the inception of the institute. It is one of the oldest departments with three full-time teachers. The department offers Optional English course at B.A. The department runs Certificate course of Communication Skill and Soft Skills for capacity building. Dr. Dr T. M. Pawar (Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English Department), Dr. P. S. Mothe (Associate Professor) and Dr. S. P. Mathpati (Associate Professor) have been recognized as Research Supervisors by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, M.S. The department holds an excellent record of good results, meritorious students, 7+ research student Awarded with Ph. D under the guidance of the faculties working in the department and many students got qualified the competitive examinations like NET/SET. The department of English has a Language Laboratory with 1+10 computers, Projector, Internet Facility (Wifi) and Smart-Board. Department has its own departmental library pertaining to English Language, Literature, Criticism, Classic and Modern English textbooks and references books as well. The department has a very good collection of e-books as well. The department conducts various competitions such as elocution, spelling, essay-writing and research paper writing competition for students. The department organizes How to crack Competitive Exam Seminar for UG students. The department organizes guest lectures of eminent teachers to update both the teacher and student knowledge. The department celebrates the days like Teacher’s Day, Guru-pournima, etc. The faculties in the department have developed the E-Content and published the same through the e-platforms like Youtube, Facebbok, Instagram, Blogspot, Slideshare, etc.

The Department of English is committed for innovative teaching with curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities which promote acquaintance with English language along with the cultural awareness, and ethical accountability through the exploration and study of English language, literature and criticism. The department contributes in all possible ways to students’ personal understanding, development, knowledge, and ability to think in a critical manner. |
Aims and Objectives | The aim of the English department seeks to provide students with an education of the highest quality in the English language, in literature written in English and in critical and creative writing, judiciously combining breadth with depth, tradition with contemporaneity. We carry out number of co-curricular and extracurricular activities along with curriculum / prescribed syllabus. We anticipate proper discipline, sincerity, good behavior, representation of ethics and protocols from each and every student who seeks admission in our college. In its teaching, the Department of English seeks to provide students with an education of the highest quality in the English language, in literature written in English and in critical and creative writing, judiciously combining breadth with depth, tradition with contemporaneity. It seeks to attract the best possible students from diverse geographical, professional, racial and ethnic backgrounds. It encourages students throughout their programs so as to enable them to progress expeditiously to their degrees and to gain the maximum benefit from their experience. All students who have compulsory and major in English should become comprehensive in all respects and therefore certain aims and objectives have been formed by the department to proceed properly.
