About department

The Department was established in 1991.The year of Establishment of the college. It offers UG Course only. It has been affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University, Aurangabad. Mr. Pidge B.V. (M.A. ) is the current head of  the department.

aims and objectives

The Sociology Department aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the social world, including the ways in which society is structured, the forces that shape social behaviour, and the consequences of social action. The department seeks to achieve the following objectives:

 

·        To provide students with a broad knowledge of sociological theories, concepts, and methods that are necessary for understanding social phenomena.

 

·        To enable students to develop critical thinking skills, and to encourage them to question taken-for-granted assumptions about social life.

 

·        To promote students’ ability to conduct empirical research, analyse data, and write effectively about social issues.

 

·        To provide students with a global perspective on social issues and to help them understand the interdependence of different societies.

 

·        To prepare students for careers in fields such as social research, social policy, education, and community development.

 

·        To promote social justice and equality through research, teaching, and service to the community.

 

·        To foster an environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and lifelong learning.

 

·        To encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary learning and collaboration, as well as to develop a range of transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

 

·        To cultivate students’ awareness of their own social position and experiences, as well as their responsibilities as citizens in a diverse and complex society.

 

·        To contribute to the advancement of sociological knowledge through research, scholarship, and publication.

 

·        To engage in public outreach and advocacy activities that promote social change and improve the lives of individuals and communities.

 

·        To foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and that encourages students to explore their interests and passions.

 

Activity / Fascility

·        World’s population day is celebrated every year by Department of Sociology

·        Departmental library : Near about 150 Books are available for students in departmental library

 

Future plan

·        Applied learning opportunities: Departments may offer internships, practicum experiences, or clinical placements for students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of Sociological settings.

 

·        Community outreach: A department may organize and participate in community outreach programs, such as mental health awareness campaigns, support groups, or workshops.

 

·        Diversity and inclusion initiatives: Departments may implement initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as creating safe spaces for marginalized students, recruiting and retaining faculty from diverse backgrounds, and incorporating diverse perspectives into the curriculum.

 

·        Technology integration: Departments may integrate technology into teaching and research, such as online courses, virtual reality simulations, and advanced data analysis software.

 

·        Continuing education and professional development: Departments may provide continuing education and professional development opportunities for alumni and working professionals, such as workshops, seminars, and conferences.

 

·        Collaborative research and interdisciplinary projects: Departments may foster collaboration with other departments, institutions, or organizations to conduct interdisciplinary research or address societal issues related to mental health and well being.

 

·        These are just a few potential features or initiatives a Sociology department might consider. The specific plans and priorities may vary depending on the department’s resources, expertise, and goals.

 

·        Mentorship programs: Sociology departments may provide mentorship programs for students to receive guidance and support from experienced faculty members or alumni.
